Twitter’s Golden Ratio (That No One Likes To Talk About)

If you're new to Twitter, and an easy life. This comes in the notice that someone is following you and you are likely to follow them back. After all, will have some tweet] in your stream. After a few dozen of these, you can begin to use more discretion is far from one person to another profile and Twite]. But they soon become outdated and, inevitably, you're dealing with the use of the fact hardly a secret that everyone knows (whether they realize it or not) to decide who deserves the Afternoon: "constituency" in exchange "after".

If someone has more than it is after the fans, they are probably a good person at least to consider the following. If after more than to have more supporters, and the opposite may be true. The biggest difference between the two figures, and increases the likelihood of each of these is true - to a certain point, when celebrities such as Oprah and throw this system out of whack. But for ordinary people, not Hollywood celebrities, and this system works just like the candidate.

One of the reasons behind this works well is that you receive the e-mail messages now, every time you get new followers put this front and center information. Since the photograph, and this list of e-mail:

1 - and a number of his followers User

2 - Number of tweets] they have made

3 - Number of people who use the following

1 if greater than 3 (let's call it "a positive percentage), and the person, can be valued by clicking on that person's file, and if 1 is much larger than 3, and probably at least worth a look at the 3. If it is larger from 1 (negative rate) with a large margin, and the potential to be a spammer or marketer is really good (and as such is a person you probably do not want to follow). If the ratio is close to themselves, it may be useful to consider on a case - case basis.

The user to user basis, the people who have friends of a negative relationship between users, but of course they will follow them, regardless of the relationship. But on a large scale when you get more hits, it must be the candidate during the system works well.

That said, this post will piss without a doubt a lot of people down.

The truth is that while most people are aware that some extent, this relationship is correct, and a lot of people do not like to talk about. The reason is to rise against a fundamental belief in social networks: the idea that if you follow someone, whether you admit it or not, and you want them to follow you again. But the reality is that on Twitter, thanks to the social graph unequal does not occur often.

And we got on the ecosystem Twitter negative conditions that have more than one witness to the contrary. As much as any one with the knowledge that they are not a beautiful snowflake, unique of its kind, so I could understand if this bothers some of you. But it makes it any less true.

Screen shot - 2009 - 08 - 26 to 12,801 - at the beginning of amSince Twitter, and people complain about the basics extremely positive: "I only follow 10 people," and the like. The implication is that if a lot of people follow you, but you do not follow a lot of people that you aren'ta "real" Twitter user. The talk has diminished a little with some of the celebrities now on Twitter, which can not be expected to follow the millions of people, but still a lot of users around the dog fans / following differences.

But the truth is that a person can keep up with a lot of people on Twitter by following the idea starts to become meaningless. Twitter because they do not have a built-in filter relationship or the ability to search only the people you are following (both FriendFeed and other services provided with Twitter posts), if you follow the thousands of people, and the possibility that 'if you will have a meaningful experience of the followers of one is rather small .

But if you're only after 20 people say, I was active on Twitter, you're likely to see almost everything in each and every one of the 20 people they say. This is the reason that people are just beginning to establish separate accounts for follow-up to the people they really want to follow. It is a work about the candidate, sort of.

Following the idea of thousands of people are just ridiculous. From what I saw, I remember that people who do this are usually either frames or it's someone trying to promote something. The idea is that the more people you follow, is likely to follow you again, you get more of what it is to promote you (even if it's yourself).

Now, once again, and before every start to scream in the comments, and I know that there are exceptions to this rule. For new users trying to get used to use Twitter and build their fan base, the rate does not apply. But when we start to get a seat and hundreds of thousands of his supporters, and the relationship begins to work.
