An Open Letter To BET

Dear Debra Lee,

BET Awards show Sunday was a disgrace. This is sad and unfortunate that the network is owned by Viacom continues to perpetuate negative stereotypes and crank mediocrity black men, women and children. Although it is probable that the high ratings for awards shows, there is no honor to the status quo in the opinion of the black population. Your tribute to Michael Jackson and the exhibition was a great moment, not in the BET, however, a solid, quality performance. Rather than "raising the bar" and presentation of African-Americans as creative, proud, dignified people, BET lowered the bar for the whole world to see. The BET Awards attracted a large audience to participate in a tribute to Michael Jackson, but for millions of viewers feeling frustrated, confused, and a decrease in traditional stereotypes.

Most clearly sexist representations of the night, the leaders, not to act as BET and the intelligence, courage and leadership. Show executives watched beaten, welcomed and recognized artists such as Lil 'Wayne, Drake, and cash, the young girls between firms in the stage to dance, and performed showcase and "Every Girl, a song that the girls and women to reduce sexual object. In a culture where one in four girls and women are raped or sexually abused - and where the daily turnover of people at risk women in the sex industry manipulation - not good that the BET has allowed that to happen. BET, one public -- in particular girls and women from all over the world - the excuse for doing nothing. BET also take immediate steps to ensure that this type of gender performance is not repeated. Sunday night, so why in the world are tired of blacks in the BET and I feel strongly that the network of black men and women.

Go back to the letter and the critics as one million.
