Iran says recount shows election valid

Iranian officials said hotly contested presidential elections to be adjusted after a partial recount.

State television reported that the Guardian Council Secretary Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati Minister of Internal Affairs has submitted a letter saying: Sadeghi Mahsouli sec. Council approved the election after a recount of the votes of 10 percent.

Applications for new elections and allegations of irregularities, the vote was rejected.

Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi says he, not the current president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is the true winner of the June 12 elections and called for new elections.
